The ‘From The Front Line’ report records responses of professionals who have supported applications to Newlife’s Equipment Grant Scheme, which provides pain-relieving beds, wheelchairs, safety seating, communication and therapy aids for children. In this report we will reveal the real issues behind a scandalously poor system of provision that has left many of these children without the special equipment they need to protect them from injury, prevent their condition worsening, enable them to reach their full potential and allow them to be care for safely. In the past year, we have worked closely with hundreds of families and professionals to understand their experiences with local services, particularly regarding specialist equipment. This was complemented by extensive Freedom of Information research of local services across the UK to discover how waiting times and equipment spend are responding to the increasing demands.
